TIME is running out for Santas to sign-up for Helen & Douglas House's popular festive fundraiser.

This year's Santa Run takes place on Sunday in Oxford’s city centre, setting off from Broad Street at 9am before going through University Parks.

Santas of all ages can take part in the three and a half kilometre fun run, which helps raise vital funds for the charity, which cares for children and young adults with terminal conditions from across Oxfordshire.

The East Oxford charity needs to raise £5 million each year to fund its two hospice houses and an outreach nursing service

Hannah Barrett, the event organiser, said: “We have had a huge amount of interest in this year’s festive fun run for all the family but there are still some spaces left.

"It is such a fun event which people come back to year after year."

She added the money raised through the event would make a massive difference to the children who use the hospice and their families, stating £13 could pay for a Christmas meal at the hospice for a whole family, £35 for an outreach nurse to visit a child at home over Christmas and £55 for a bereavement counselling session over the Christmas period.

Runners can sign up at hdh.org.uk or call 01865 799150.

Family tickets are £58, adult tickets are £19 and the cost of a child over five is £12 and include a free Santa suit.

Anyone wanting to raise money for the charity through fundraising rather than sponsorship can send for the Santa Day festive fundraising pack, which is full of Christmas fundraising ideas and activities. It is available to download via hdh.org.uk.
