RESIDENTS in Oxfordshire are being warned to beware phone calls from people claiming to be police officers.
Thames Valley Police said a resident in Letcombe Regis near Wantage received a fake call from someone claiming to be from Hemel Hempstead police station.
The caller told the victim he needed to contact his bank due to fraudulent activity on accounts at his branch and he was persuaded to withdraw more than £6,000 and hand it over to a courier.
A resident in Henley was also contacted but did not fall for the con.
