ANOTHER Oxfordshire post office is set to be re-invented with extended opening hours.

The Post Office, which is in the process of a massive national overhaul, has announced plans to move its Charlbury branch.

Under the plans, services would move to the Co-op in Enstone Road and open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm – an extra 57 hours on the current offering, including Sundays.

Services would be delivered from an open-plan till alongside the shop’s main retail counter.

The Post Office, which has said the Co-op would provide a ‘more modern, open-plan environment’, has now launched a six-week public consultation on its plans.

In a statement the company said: “The branch would also open significantly earlier and would close much later, making it far more convenient for customers to visit.

“The proposed move from 8 Market Street would be with the current postmaster’s agreement and would be part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.”

The consultation will close on January 8 and submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost Your comments to Post Office Ltd; via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the customer helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55. Customers can also take a questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 081137.
