A NEW public exhibition will be on display until January in the town hall.

Entries to the Oxford Swift City Tower competition will be presented in The Gallery until January, 2, 2018.

The competition was launched on May 6 to find a design for a new swift tower to be built in Oxford.

A panel of judges selected a shortlist from the entries received, and the public were asked to cast their votes for the design they would most like to see built in the Oxford University Parks.

Jonathan Wheeler, from Lower Radley, was the winner and his design will be built by Oxford University in the University Parks.

Oxford Swift City Project officer Lucy Hyde said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the incredible creativity of all those who submitted designs to the Oxford Swift Tower competition, and an ideal opportunity for people to learn more about the Oxford Swift City Project.

“We hope people will come along to see the designs, and hopefully find out more about how they can help swifts at home.”

A Swift Tower is a free-standing structure, with lots of boxes for swifts to build their nests in.

The competition was part of Oxford Swift City, a two-year project to improve the outlook for swifts in Oxford, made possible by National Lottery players through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
