OXFORD City Council's recycling team was judged the country's best at a leading body's annual do.

It was awarded Best Team of the Year by the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC).

It noted the council has increased the amount of recycled food waste it collected over 2016/17 and that its recycling rate, at 49.9 per cent, was three per cent higher than the year before.

Executive board member for a Clean and Green Oxford, Councillor John Tanner, said: "This is terrific recognition for the team. It is further evidence of the dedication of staff in making Oxford a clean and green city."
