AN EXHIBITION about the work of animator Geoff Dunbar has opened at Abingdon County Hall Museum.

The BAFTA award winning director and animator was born in the town and through a fascinating display of original animation cels, film stills and historic animation tools from the museum collection, the exhibition reflects upon the history and world of animation through the work of Mr Dunbar.

His animated films will be familiar to some for ‘Rupert and the Frog Song’, an 1984 animated music video made in collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney, and ‘The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends’, Dunbar’s 1994 adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s stories commissioned by the BBC.

Visitors will be able to explore the world of animation through touchscreen interactives, historic animation devices and toys, screenings of traditional animation films by Dunbar, and by learning more about the tools of the trade.

To coincide with the exhibition the animator will present a series of school workshops, and give an introductory talk before a special screening of ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’, his 2004 animated adaptation of the beloved opera by Leoš Janá?ek, on November 1 at Abingdon School's Amey Theatre.

More details about the exhibition and events are on the museum website.
