A COUNCIL has revealed plans to create a mile-long stretch of handmade poppies through Witney for Armistice Day 2018.

Witney Town Council is urging people to get involved with the initiative, which will see a walkway of poppies recreating the route soldiers from the town would have taken to the train station when heading off to fight.

The plan is for the poppy trail to start with a cascade of poppies coming from the Corn Exchange, in Market Square.

The council has said it is hoping for a ‘spectacular’ display but needs people to get involved with making poppies to pull it off.
