COMMUNITY groups seeking a cash boost to improve their facilities have less than two weeks to apply for a council grant.
Applicants can apply for up to £50,000 through West Oxfordshire District Council’s Community Facilities Grant, which is available for projects like updates to village halls, play areas and sports ground equipment.
Councillor Jeanette Baker, cabinet member responsible for communities and leisure, urged groups across the district to make an application.
She added: “We have supported some wonderful projects that benefit local people and made a real difference to their communities. I hope that many organisations will take the opportunity to apply for a grant.”
Funding is allocated over two rounds. The first round took place in the spring with grants agreed for three projects: £50,000 towards major improvements at Cogges Manor Farm, Witney; £18,000 towards the interior fit out of a new Scout Group hut in Chipping Norton and £1,200 towards a new floor at Great Rollright Village Hall.
Up to £200,000 has been set aside in the Council’s 2017/18 budget for its Community Facilities grant.
The deadline for applications is September 19.
