A FORMER Oxford student has been appointed to sit on the UK’s top appeal court.
Sir Michael Briggs, who went to Magdalen College, will sit alongside Lady Hale as a president of the Supreme Court from October.
The appointment was announced yesterday.
After Oxford he embarked on a career in both commercial and chancery work.
Sir Michael was appointed to the High Court in 2006 and was the judge in charge of the extensive Lehman Brothers investment bank insolvency litigation from 2009 to 2013.
He becomes Lord Justice Briggs.
