THE number of people living in Oxford over the age of 65 is expected to increase by four percentage points over the next 20 years, figures suggest.

The Office for National Statistics’ latest overview of population said 11 per cent of the city’s population were aged over 65, compared to 14 per cent in 1996.

But the ONS predicts the number of people over 65 in the city will increase to 15 per cent by 2036.

Elsewhere in the county, the ONS has forecast the over 65s will form more than 25 per cent of the population.
