THE expansion of a popular Abingdon sports facility has been approved.
Vale of White Horse District Council has given Abingdon School permission to build another 3G pitch at Tilsley Park, alongside the existing one.
It will be floodlit with six 12-metre columns, which prompted an objection from one neighbour about light pollution.
But the council permitted the plans on Monday, agreeing in a report that it would ‘enhance the existing facilities by providing a further modern artificial pitch for football, to meet increases in local demand’.
