A SECOND Oxfordshire author is raising funds for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster.

Philip Pullman joined forces with other writers to raise funds for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, which happened on June 14.

A fundraising auction supported by authors including Mr Pullman, Jacqueline Wilson and Margaret Atwood raised more than £150,000.

Mr Pullman agreed to name a character in the second instalment of his new series, The Book of Dust, in memory of teenage school pupil Nur Huda el-Wahabi, who died in the tragedy.

Now Carterton-based writer Mary Hoffman has decided to raise funds by auctioning the the opportunity to have tea with her at the Randolph Hotel on Friday, July 21 at 3pm.

Ms Hoffman said: “Bridget Blankley, who is an author herself whose first book won a prize last year was the successful bidder and that will raise £77 for the British Red Cross.

“I am hoping to talk to Bridget about my award-winning book Amazing Grace, and I will bring her a signed copy if I can.
