A GREEN election candidate has made opposition to a plans for an Oxfordshire ‘super council’ a key part of his campaign.
Robn Bennett, who is standing for the party in the Henley constituency, which covers much of the county’s south west outside Oxford, said such an authority would be ‘remote’. A super council would see existing authorities all merged into one.
But Mr Bennett added: “We want the economic role of our local councils to be enhanced.” Supporters of the super council plan say it would save £20m a year.
