BOWLING green mowers, vans and tippers belonging to the council will be auctioned off to the public next week.

Oxford City Council’s annual auction will return on May 13 with more than 100 items of outdoors equipment up for grabs at its Cowley Marsh Depot.

Handheld gardening equipment, trailers, tools, cars and mobility scooters will be among the items expected to attract up to 300 people from businesses and commercial dealerships as well as private buyers.

The council has held vehicle and equipment auctions, selling off items in no longer requires due to new technologies or upgrades, since 1996 and May’s sale is the only one this year.

Fleet Manager at Oxford City Council, Ian Bourton said: “We are really excited that the vehicle and plant auction is returning this year with such a large number of items for sale.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to come along and grab a bargain.”

The sale will be run by auctioneers from Milton Keynes Motor Stadium Auctions at the Cowley depot.

Auctioneer Mick Blacow said: “These auctions attract all sorts of people, businesses, commercial dealers and private individuals.

“We are expecting between 200 and 300 people to attend.”

In recent years a vending machine, a snow plough and a mobile elevating working platform have been among the quirkier items on sale, along with generators, power tools and workshop equipment

Gates will open at 9.30am on the day for viewing and registration with the auction itself starting at 11am.
