A FAMILY fun run is being planned in Cholsey to raise funds for a charity supporting a project in Uganda in East Africa.

The Choko charity was set up in 2005 to raise funds for disadvantaged families in the Kodumela region of South Africa.

A beer festival is held in the autumn and to date has raised about £80,000.

Now organisers have formed links with a new project in Ntwetwe, Uganda, and a colour run, in which runners are pelted with powder paint, will raise sponsorship money.

A course will be set up on Cholsey Recreation Ground and Jubilee Field on Saturday, June 10, and the run will start at 1pm with a £3 entrance fee.

There will also be music and food stalls and spectators can buy bags of paint for £2 each to throw at the runners.

A spokesman for the charity said: “Choko has formed a new link with the community of Ntwetwe in Uganda.

“This relationship is an opportunity for new people in the community to get involved.”
