COLOUR is set to be splashed across a shopping centre when giant art comes to the city next month.

A collection of 50 paintings will shine bright throughout Templars Square Shopping Centre as part of The Positive Painting Project.

The community initiative between the Cowley centre and nearby Ark T Centre will launch at 11am at April 8.

Shopping centre manager Owen Acland said: “This has been a great opportunity to support Ark T and we look forward to seeing the paintings on display for the benefit of our community.”

The Positive Painting Project saw people of all ages come together to represent the diverse communities in Cowley.

It featured artistic sessions in the shopping centre in February, when community members unleashed their creative talents.

Further free sessions were held at Crowell Road’s Ark T Centre, funded by Templars Square Shopping Centre and led by Ark T resident artists Groovy Su and Cait Sweeney.

Artist Groovy Su said: “I’m so excited about seeing all the beautiful paintings together in Templars Square for everyone to enjoy.”

Project participants, which included a 14-month-old, will unite to celebrate their giant work when they are displayed to the public for the first time next month.
