A PRIMARY school that has worked hard to address a dip in results has been rated ‘good’ again by Ofsted.

Dunmore Primary School in Northcourt Road, Abingdon, was subject to a short inspection earlier this month – for schools rated good at their last inspection.

Inspectors said the school continued to be good, and in a letter to headteacher Samuel Bartholomew remarked on how quickly staff had addressed the causes of a dip in test results in 2016.

In the letter inspector Darren Aisthorpe said school leaders were very supportive and that governors worked hard to continue to raise standards.

Pupil’s conduct around the school and their behaviour in lessons was also said to be good and they were said to be positive about the school, care for each other and value the clubs, trips and activities offered.

Mr Aisthorpe said: “You, your leadership team and governors are very determined and ambitious for the school to continue to provide high-quality education for all pupils. “On appointment, you immediately rewrote the self-evaluation and school development plan.

“This enabled you to prioritise your actions and address the causes in the dip in national tests for key stages 1 and 2 last year swiftly.”

Mr Aisthorpe identified some areas in which the school could improve even further,.

He said progress in maths and the wider curriculum needed to continue to improve and that teaching, learning and assessment needed to support all groups of pupils in key stage one, particularly those with low prior attainment, to make good progress.

The school was also told to ensure that attendance continued to improve, particularly for disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs or disabilities.
