AN MP met with the managing director of a rail company to discuss improvements to rail in west Oxfordshire.

Witney MP Robert Courts discussed his constituents’ concerns over rail with Great Western Railway MD Mark Hopwood.

He said: “It was fantastic to discuss all the innovations that GWR are making to improve services for West Oxfordshire. As a regular commuter on the railways myself, I completely understand that services should be reliable, efficient and work for rail users.

“Opening a further extension to Hanborough station car park in November, it is clear there is ever growing demand for services. That is why I am continuing to press for clear improvements.”

Mr Courts had already met with GWR in Parliament in November to discuss the future of the North Cotswold line, which could see journey times from Hanborough to London Paddington significantly reduced.

The Conservative made railways one of his top priorities during his by-election campaign last year.
