AN OXFORD university company shelled out more than £50m in funding to help launch 24 companies last year.

Oxford University Innovation (OUI) is the research commercialisation company for the University and spinouts account for 21 of this year’s new firms across aeronautics, big data, and virtual reality sectors

This more than doubles OUI’s performance in 2015 (10 spinouts) and sets a new record for spinout companies emerging from a higher education institution in Europe.
