POLICE have urged people to be more vigilant against burglars during the summer.
With the weather getting warmer, Thames Valley Police said it was important not to leave ground floor windows or doors open and unlocked unless you are in the room.
The force also warned residents spending time in the garden not to leave front windows open or valuables on display.
It added: "If you’re going on holiday make arrangements to make sure your house appears occupied whilst you’re away."
People can also register valuables on the website immobilise.com, which is used by police to reunite owners with stolen property.
