LITTLE ones with big imaginations are called on to get out the pencils, crayons, paints or even computer to design a green poster for Oxford City Council.

This summer children in the city are being asked to create a bright image based on Phil the Bin, the council's recycling mascot, who is used to promote the 'Blue Bin Recycling League' competition and was named in a public vote last October.

The competition is now open and runs until 4pm on Friday, August 26. The winner will be announced on Recycling Week, which starts on Monday, September 12.

Once selected the winner’s poster will be proudly displayed around the city on the sides of one of the City Council’s recycling collection vehicles for all to see.

Councillor John Tanner, city council board member for clean and green Oxford, said: “The competition is open to all children who would like to encourage their families and friends to recycle more. We want them to let their imaginations run wild and come up with an eye-catching design that we can proudly display on one of our vehicles.”

Entry forms can be downloaded from the council’s website, picked up from recycling roadshows (details below) or collected from the council’s offices at St Aldate's, Horspath Road, Cowley Marsh Depot or Templars Square.
