A GLORIOUS garden created by children from the Blackbird Leys and Greater Leys estates earned a coveted Gold Award at the Blenheim Flower Show.
Youngsters from the Blackbird Academy Trust's Windale, Pegasus and Orchard Meadow primary schools used donated wooden pallets, tin cans, wellington boots and a riot of flowers and shrubs to create their 'Hanging Garden of Blackbird Leys', which was on display at the annual event over the weekend.
The award was presented to schoolchildren by actor Sir Ian McKellen, who also drew a picture of himself as Gandalf in the garden's visitors book.
In 2014 the children from the trust entered the Blenheim Flower Show and won a Gold Award for their edible entry, entitled Eat Your Garden.
