A LEAFY installation by youngsters from three primary schools in Blackbird Leys is set to enchant visitors to the Blenheim Flower Show this weekend.

Children from Windale, Pegasus and Orchard Meadow primary schools have been hard at work creating their display for the world-famous event, which will be entitled the Hanging Garden of Blackbird Leys. A delegation of pupils from Pegasus arrived on site in high-viz jackets earlier this week and began preparation.

A diary entry posted on the website of the Blackbird Academy Trust, which runs the three schools, said: "We arrived to an empty site - a blank canvas if you will.

"Over the morning we have been fascinated to see the professional gardeners arrive and start to set up.

"They have all been very friendly and there is a great team spirit and sense of excitement here."

Wooden pallets, donated and delivered to Blenheim by nearby social enterprise the Pathway workshop for just £1.20, were laid out and screwed together to form a walkway.

In 2014 children from BAT entered the Blenheim Flower Show and won a Gold Award for their entry, 'Eat Your Garden', which was made entirely of edible plants such as English marigolds and purple basil, with an orange and yellow colour scheme.

The event runs from Friday, June 17 to Sunday, June 19. For more information visit blenheimflowershow.co.uk
