IT WASN’T just the opening and closing ceremonies which featured Oxfordshire people.

Among the thousands of volunteers were others from the county who helped make the games run according to plan.

Tristan Hale, 29, from Begbroke, was a fencing referee for the modern pentathlon.

He said: “It was probably one of the most memorable experiences of my life.”

Osteopath Jas Johal, 23, from Headington, provided massages for journalists at the Media Centre.

She said: “Everyone I have met who has volunteered has loved it.”
