Jail term for drug dealer caught at rave
9:30am Tuesday 15th May 2012 in News
A DRUG dealer who tried to run away from police at a rave has been jailed.
Simon Joseph was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court yesterday having earlier admitted six offences.
The 26-year-old was sprayed with CS gas by officers at an outdoor event at Radley Pits on August 21.
Prosecutor Sandra Beck said: “Officers were in attendance at a rave in the very early hours of the morning.
“While there they came across this defendant. He tried to conceal something from them and was acting suspiciously.”
She added: “As he was being arrested he ran from these officers and there was a significant struggle.”
Joseph’s home in Chatham Road, Oxford, was searched later that day and 20 cannabis plants were found growing in a hydroponics set up in a tent in a bedroom.
The defendant admitted obstructing a police constable, producing cannabis (Class B), possessing cannabis, possessing cannabis with intent to supply, possessing cocaine (Class A) and possessing JWH-073 (Class B) at an earlier hearing.
Philippa Eastwood, defending, said her client grew cannabis to fund his own habit and sold it only to a small group of friends and family.
Judge Patrick Eccles jailed Joseph for six months.
