Car knocks over lorry driver in roundabout incident

A LORRY driver was attacked by the driver of a BMW car in a road rage incident at a roundabout in Oxford.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for other drivers who saw the incident to come forward with information.

The lorry driver was waiting at the lights at the Watlington Road roundabout on the Oxford ring road in Cowley at about 6am on Saturday.

As he waited to turn left at the traffic lights towards the Unipart depot, a grey or dark silver BMW pulled up next to him and the driver started shouting abuse.

When the 44-year-old lorry driver got out of his cab to talk to the other driver, the BMW was driven at him, knocking him over the bonnet. The BMW then drove off towards the Oxford Retail Park. The lorry driver was not injured but was left shaken and upset.

A number of cars are believed to have driven past during the incident and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may be able to help them to identify the BMW driver.

Anyone with information should call Pc Andrew Robinson on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
