Bus passengers get say about services
12:00pm Tuesday 20th March 2012 in News
RECENT changes to bus timetables on a number of key routes around Oxford will come under scrutiny at a passengers’ forum on Thursday.
The event, organised by Bus Users UK’s Oxford group, will give passengers the chance to question managers from the main local bus operators.
Representatives of the Oxford Bus Company, Stagecoach and Thames Travel will be at the event at Oxford Town Hall, along with officials from the city and county councils, who are responsible for bus shelters and bus services.
Since the launch last July of Oxford’s pioneering Bus Quality Partnership, with joint ticketing on most city services and joint timetables on the busiest routes, some services suffered from a lack of capacity and reliability, which led to complaints at the previous forum last October.
Stagecoach and Oxford Bus Company revised the timetables on routes 2, 8 and 9 in February and both they and Bus Users UK are keen to know whether this has solved the previous problems.
Bus users and community groups are welcome to take part. Doors will open at the Town Hall, in St Aldate’s, at 6 pm and the forum will start at 6.30 pm.
For more information, call Hugh Jaeger, the chairman of the Bus Users UK Oxford group, on 01865 554814.
