THE people of Headington are finally getting their corner shop back after months of waiting.
Londis will be reopening in London Road tomorrow ,almost a year to the day after it closed, leaving a gap in Headington’s shopping centre.
It has now been taken over by Sunder Sandher, 49, who has run a convenience store in his home town of Leamington Spa since the age of 18.
He said: “There is definitely a nice feel to Headington and so many people have been welcoming.
“I cannot wait to open up and I hope to get involved with the local community.
“Maybe at a later stage I will move down with my family.”
The Londis shop closed down on Friday, February 18, 2011, when a sign was put on the door saying it had “gone into receivership”.
Old High Street resident Joe Winkleman said: “It seemed a shame for that property in such a prominent position not to be used.
“I am happy to see a shop there again.”
