YOBS are believed to have shot at the home of a Witney couple with an airgun in a homophobic attack.

Police are hunting a group of teenagers in connection with criminal damage to the property.

Two men, aged 45 and 39, were at their home in Chestnut Close at about 9pm last Wednesday, when they heard a loud bang. Thames Valley Police, who only released details of the attack yesterday, said a glass patio door was shattered, possibly by a shot from an airgun.

Soon afterwards the couple heard homophobic abuse from a group of teenagers outside, which they believed was aimed at them.

The gang was described as five boys aged between 16 and 18.

Pc Laura Pagan said: “The victims believe they have been targeted due to their sexuality. They are naturally very distressed by this attack.”

Anyone with information should call Pc Pagan on 08548 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
