A SCULPTURE of an orangutan is to be auctioned off in aid of the Oxford-based Sumatran Orangutan Society.
The life-size fibreglass sculpture named Hati and painted by eco artist Caz Haigh is being showcased in Edinburgh’s Jungle City exhibition.
It is one of 130 similar sculptures which were displayed in Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Gardens before being set up in the streets of the city, part of an event organised by conservation charity Elephant Family. Hati is in St Andrew’s Square and will be sold on eBay at ebay.co.uk/junglecity between Friday, September 23, and Sunday, October 2.
SOS director Helen Buckland said: “The funds and awareness raised by this fantastic event will help us secure a safer future for Sumatran orangutans and all the other amazing species that share their forest home.
“We’re so pleased with our sculpture – it’s bright, eye-catching and really does express how vibrant and diverse orangutan habitat is.”
