Pupils help out air ambulance

Year nine pupils at Fitzharrys School raised £550 for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust through their own business ventures.

Student Courtney Lowe, 14, raised more than £200 through cake sales, car washes, baby-sitting and dog-walking.

Lucy Ashmall, 14, earned more than £100 running a ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ competition with Courtney, alongside cake sales and other activities.

Teacher Sara Othen said: “I am incredibly proud of their achievements. They far exceeded my expectations of how much they’d raise.”

Eleanor Green, of the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust, said: “These guys have done a fantastic job. It is enterprising students like these who keep us in the air.”
