HUSBAND and wife John White and Dee Taylor entertained guests with African food and music at a fund-raising dinner party.

The Abingdon couple were raising cash to buy teaching materials for Longido Primary School in northern Tanzania, where they both taught for six months two years ago.

Last night, they invited some 20 guests to the Boiler Room cafe at Pegasus Primary School in Field Avenue, Oxford.

Mr White, 51, of Spring Road, said: “We wanted to raise awareness of the culture and let them sample the richness of the culture with the food and the music. We thought it was ideal and there was not a better way to do that than within a local school as well.”

The couple hope to raise more than £5,000 for desks, stationary, and books.
