COLLEAGUES in a Witney company will be jumping 10,000ft in a sponsored parachute jump to raise money for charity.
Hyatt Construction employees Melissa Coleman, 27, in the wheelbarrow, Vince Frost, 39, left, Alisdair Sillence, 27, right, and Ivan Howell, 40, — will be doing the jump today at Hinton Airfield, near Brackley, raising money for Parkinson’s UK.
Mr Frost’s father, Malcolm, 63, has suffered from the disease for the past 20 years.
Mr Frost, a contract manager, said: “From my personal point of view, as my dad suffers from it and any money the charity gets will go towards research, it’s quite nice that it will get a bit of money from ourselves.
“We are just trying to raise as much as we can, I personally will raise at least £500 in addition to the cost of the jump.”
The colleagues decided to do the jump after an office chat.
Office manager Miss Coleman said: “I have always wanted to do a skydive for years but it’s one of those things I have always talked about but never done.
“But when we got chatting we decided to do it for charity.”
Each member of the team nominated a charity and the winner was picked out of a hat.
Miss Coleman added: “We are all glad we are doing it for Parkinson’s UK as we realise it doesn’t get much publicity, like breast cancer does and other charities.
“We want people to be aware that Parkinson’s UK is crying out for help. There is no cure for Parkinson’s and people do not know what to do to help, so the charity needs all the help it can get.”
To sponsor the team, send a cheque to Hyatt Construction, Unit 3, Avenue 3, Witney OX28 4BP.
