Church pays club legal fee

COURT costs of £12,000 have been paid by St Ebbe’s Church following an appeal against a club’s lapdancing licence.

The church lost the appeal against Thirst Lodge, last month, and was ordered by a district judge to pay towards the club’s legal costs.

The church had objected to the city council allowing the venue, in Pennyfarthing Place, to stage lapdancing.

Dr Lucy Bannister, a spokesman for the church, said: “We sent the money to our solicitor in the past week so it could be forwarded to the solicitor representing Thirst Lodge.”

The church was given 28 days by Oxford Magistrates Court to pay the costs.

I bet the collection plate has been a bit heavy these past few weeks. They could have had a lot of fun in there for 12 grand.

It's a shame they weren't forced to pay the full legal costs... I suppose the congregation could organise their own "lap-dancing" sessions in the church hall to raise the funds to cover the cost of their outrage. Maiden Aunts fully dressed, of course, thrusting away in twin-sets and pearls but no touching allowed.
