Ash keeps air ambulance grounded

The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance remains grounded today on safety grounds.

The crew, based at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, were told not to fly at 3pm yesterday because of the volcanic ash cloud affecting British air space.

A spokesman for the service said the air ambulance was likely to remain grounded for the rest of the day.

She added the air ambulance paramedic crews would use a rapid response vehicle, based at RAF Benson, to respond to incidents if required.

The Air Ambulance should be fine, this ash is 3 miles high, and Chinooks have been flowing around where I live all day.
