PLANS have been submitted for a gipsy settlement near the A34 north of Oxford.
The Romany Gypsy Advisory Group wants to create a site for eight mobile homes, eight touring caravans for nomadic use only and eight utility rooms for gypsy families on a piece of scrubland just off the A34 junction between Islip and Hampton Poyle.
Cherwell district councillor Simon Holland said: “It will be controversial and if necessary I will call it in so it can be properly reviewed in planning, where all parties can make their pitch.”
Hampton Gay and Poyle Parish Meeting chairman Dave Green said: “I want to know more about it.
“I will not oppose it on anything other than genuine planning grounds.”
“Obviously they have got to go somewhere.”
Cherwell said consultation would be open until April 16 and the application could be decided in April or May.
No-one from the Romany Gypsy Advisory Group was available for comment.

Sorry but no.These people do not abide by our rules and thus we shouldn't be helping them. A huge amount of petty theft here in Radley is down to a certain protected group in Redbridge Hollow and the police just won't get involved.

Travellers have been in Britain for over 600 years. I'm struggling with that assertion Mr. The. Where's your evidence? The tinkers come from what was then beyond the Pail-I din't think they'd have lasted long in medieval England . From memory the gipsies didn't reach Rome till after 1410 and would have been more of a 19th century phenomenon here

That just about says it all, tinkering around with kids, not to mention promoting the immunity thingy in africa, Strange that they don't go Travelling much over there, I wonder why that might be? Could it be that there are no state handouts over there, or that if you offered to pave somebodys driveway and after taking their cash did not do it, then you would be lynched? No human rights law to hide behind there eh.

They are not romany, they are not a race, half of them have ginger hair. They have taken a lifestyle choice and will not conform to social norms. That is why no one likes them.
