United fans fight banning orders

Two Oxford United fans are set to contest football banning orders given to them after a pitch invasion on the last day of the season.

Joseph Nicholls, 29, of Vineyard, Abingdon, and Paul Woodburn, 41, of Brize Norton Road, Minster Lovell, have appealed the three-year bans handed to them at Oxford Magistrates’ Court in January following United’s home game with Northwich Victoria in April.

The hearing is set to take place at Oxford Crown Court on June 18.
