Plane's crash-landing at Chalgrove being investigated

AN INQUIRY has been launched after a light aircraft crash-landed at an Oxfordshire airfield.

Emergency services were called to Chalgrove Airfield, off the B480, shortly after 1pm yesterday after a Beech 200 plane carried out a controlled crash landing.

The pilot and his passenger were not injured during the incident.

Officials from the Air Accidents Investigation Bureau are looking into what happened.

It is believed the aircraft’s landing gear failed.

Thomas Nisbet was working nearby when the plane crashed.

He said: “A customer came in and asked if I had seen the crash. He saw it flying low over the airstrip then ending up in a hedge.

“I believe they have pulled the plane out, but it’s still there, looking rather sad.”

The aircraft was being flown by a pilot for the Martin-Baker Aircraft Company, which makes ejector seats and rents the airfield.
