Hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects to Britain’s war dead at Remembrance services across the county this morning.

At the War Memorial in St Giles, Oxford, and at the Commonwealth War Graves Section at Botley, people of all ages bowed their heads in respect to servicemen and women killed in the line of duty.

Welcoming the crowds to St Giles, Lord Mayor Mary Clarkson said: “We gather to remember those who have suffered and died in past wars but also in our minds those who are suffering in conflicts around the world.”

Wreaths were laid in memory of the fallen and representatives from the military, Scouts, Brownies, Guides, Air and Sea cadets marched through the city in their memory.
