Cyclist injured in car collision


A cyclist was injured in a collision between a bicycle and a car in Oxford this morning.

The incident occurred at about 8.15am at the junction of Iffley Road and Iffley Turn and involved a blue Ford Ka and a bicycle.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “It was a female driver of the Ford and a male cyclist.

“He appears to have suffered minor injuries, but was conscious and breathing.

“An ambulance arrived and he had swelling above his right eye and cuts and bruises.”

Was the female driver of the car doing her hair/make-up/eating breakfast/talking/te
xting at the time of this accident as I've seen this so many times along this road in the mornings, I occasionally see the police speed trap van along here but perhaps they should have spot checks on drivers as well.

It was clearly an accident - these things happen! No driver goes out thinking 'how many bikes can i get today' nor do cyclists go out thinking 'how many car bonnets can I hit!'
However if it had been a male driver then I'm sure he'd have been shaving, texting, talking etc.

Lets just all agree it was the cyclists fault as usual, wish the drivers car a speedy recovery, and get on with the more important posts
