Illegal Oxford shopworker sent to prison

An illegal immigrant who made his way to Oxford in the back of a lorry and worked in a supermarket has been jailed.

Dalvinder Mann, 24, of York Road, in Headington, admitted possession of a false passport and National Insurance card at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

The court heard Mann was arrested by government immigration officers following checks on staff at Londis, in London Road, Headington, on January 28.

Judge Mary Jane Mowat jailed Mann for five months and recommended deportation to India on release.

And Londis in Headington took this arrest so seriously that it looks as though they replaced this illegal immigrant with four new ones: see

Just the kind of illegal immigrant that is so much of a problem-someone who comes to this country and works for his living. We are so lucky that we don't get 10's of 1000's of them who just get welfare. (irony)

He should be ashamed of himself for working. The object is to get here from Sangatte for WELFARE

Why not just deport him NOW, instead of spending tens of thousands of our money that we can't afford to keep him in luxury for 5 months. P.S. Don't like the term RECOMMENDED for deportation. Does that mean he stays here for years fighting it on legal aid?

BB don't be silly, that would mean that the lawyers would not get a slice of the action.

Could not agree more with BB. Why on earth not just deport him now? We are letting thugs and sex offenders walk, I am sure, because our prisons are over-crowded but we lock someone up who we should simply kick out.
I really do find some things so very hard to understand.
