A MAN accused of terrorising a woman with a shotgun has denied using the weapon.
John and Wendy Cowley both deny possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear and violence during a siege at their home in Wessex Road, Didcot, on December 5.
Jenna Moore, the girlfriend of 50-year-old Mrs Cowley’s son, has told the jury at Oxford Crown Court the couple threatened her with a shotgun during a row.
But Graeme Logan, defending John Cowley, 43, said the defendant used the shotgun at a clay pigeon shooting club, where officials loaded the weapon.
The jury heard that police found the shotgun in its cabinet and no ammunition was recovered.
Mr Logan asked John Cowley: “Did you go near the shotgun on that night?"
Cowley replied: “No.”
Mr Logan went on: “Did you open the gun cabinet?” Cowley said: “No.”
Mr Logan said: “Was there any ammunition in the house?”
Cowley answered: “No, I have never bought ammunition for the gun.”
Cowley also denies a charge of affray.
The trial continues on Monday.
