About 50 illegal motorists were caught out by police in only two and a half hours yesterday.

Police pulled over 21 vehicles in Marsh Lane, Marston, in Oxford, because the drivers or passengers were not wearing their seatbelt.

Three people were fined £30 and 18 were given roadside advice.

Ten drivers were stopped for using their mobile phones and were fined £60 and received three penalty points on their driving licence.

Five cars were seized for having no tax and 12 were removed because they were deemed unsafe for the road.

Police carried out the stop checks between 8am and 10.30am yesterday.
