POLL RESULTS: Election count u-turn is right

DAVID BUCKLE's climbdown over holding three of the General Election constituency counts on the day after voting has been welcomed by oxfordmail.co.uk readers.

Mr Buckle, who is overseeing the election in Oxford West & Abingdon, Wantage and Henley, had originally decided the counts would happen during the day on Friday, May 7.

Most counts are taking place in the hours immediately after polls close late on Thursday, May 6.

But after MPs voted that all reasonable steps should be taken to start the counts as soon as practicable, Mr Buckle backed down.

In our General Election question of the day yesterday we asked if it was right for the counts to happen soon after the polls closed.

We had 131 votes cast, with 88 per cent backing the u-turn by Mr Buckle.

Today's question is whether a hung parliament would badly affect the country and economy.

Today's question.
