Big majority as well. But it is going down to the wire. Could be the Ulsters who decide to crown Davey Boy

Now we get to see EXACTLY how corrupt our MPs and the system of parliament is with back-room deals and quite probably bribes to decide who gets to live at No 10.

Never mind off to work, if my jobs still there that is this country is well and truly up the proverbial now.

Well done to Andrew Smith - he's a really efficient MP for the area. Shame only 64% turn out.

When you say efficient what exactly do you mean ?

Efficient at lining his pockets - yes.
Efficient at working for the electorate - no.

Still at least he can be happy with the knowledge that the majority of his constituents actually DIDN'T want him.

Whatever one thinks of his politics, no-one with any sense of objectivity can deny that Andrew Smith has been an exemplary constituency MP for the last 23 years.

If by 'exemplary' you mean, kept his nose out of the trough, then yes I would agree. If, however, you mean working for his constituents, then that has not been my personal experience.

Either way, to last that long as an MP in any constituency is noteworthy and deserving of recognition.

I also believe that Mr Smith needs to thank the many Tories, such as myself, who made the decision to vote for him at this election as the prospect of a wooly Liberal MP was just too much to bear!

In previous years it seemed unecessary as no one really took the LDs seriously, but on this ocassion, there was a real possibility that enough people would vote for them, so I personally know of several Tory voters who opted for the lesser of the two evils!

Efficient as in he's the only MP in East Oxford that I've witnessed getting off their back sides and getting things done in the area, and talking to locals! I came across him several times in the 5 years I lived in the area, but not once did I come across any of the other MPs.

Saying that, was VERY disappointed to discover he had a second home in London, and had spent tax payer money (£35k) having new kitchens and bathrooms put in. He also employs his wife and pays her an equivalent of £36k salary pro rata.
