Homes in Oxford made it through the night unscathed with no reports of flooding from any of the areas under threat.
The Environment Agency has now said it expects river levels along the Thames in Oxford to reach their highest this morning before starting to recede later in the day.
Flood warnings are still in place from St John's Lock, Lechlade, to Eynsham Lock, and from Eynsham Lock to Sandford Lock, at Sandford-on-Thames.
However, the flood warning that was in place on the River Thame to Dorchester has been lifted.
Flood watches are still in place on the rivers Ock, Cole, Cherwell, Windrush, Evenlode, Ray and Coln.
Firefighters are making regular three-hourly checks on the situation in Osney Island, in West Oxford, and a command meeting is taking place this morning to assess the situation.
The Met Office forecasts rain to continue for much of the weekend, though no severe weather warnings have been issued for the region.
