FIFTY football matches across Oxford have been called off this weekend.
No games will take place tomorrow and on Sunday on any city council-maintained pitches because they are all waterlogged.
It is the first time in two years that every scheduled football match in the city has been postponed.
City council groundsmen have recommended that the match between Oxford City and Hillingdon in the British Gas Southern League, which was due to be played at Court Place Farm tomorrow, be called off. However, a final decision will be taken later tomorrow by the match referee.
Twenty matches tomorrow and 30 on Sunday on pitches including Horspath Road, Court Place Farm, Blackbird Leys, Cowley Marsh, Barton, Hinksey, Quarry recreation ground, Sandy Lane and Cutteslowe have been axed.
Tomorrow's National League Division 2 rugby clash between Henley Hawks and Wharfdale is also a casualty of the weather.
However, Oxford United's match against Blue Square Premier rivals Exeter at St James's Park is on.
