Water pumps have been called into action for the first time this year in Oxford.
Two petrol-powered pumps began removing water from the side of flats in Bullstake Close, west Oxford, at about 8.45am.
The road has been closed because too many members of the public were wandering up to look at nearby flooded fields, which hindered Oxford City Council workers.
The workmen have also created staggered barricades behind flats in the close in the hope of creating a reservoir, from which they will pump water back out into the fields.
Jalal Khan, 40, who lives in Bullstake Close, said: "We just moved back in on December 6.
"My wife is depressed and my children are not happy. They are scared about flooding.
"I think we will flood. It is scary."
