PASSENGERS trying to travel by train between Bicester and Oxford on Sunday had to make do with a replacement bus service.

Chiltern Railways warned the route will not run due to engineering works.

On Monday, normal service will be in place but as the Bicester Village Station footbridge is being upgraded there will be no access to either platform via the footbridge or lifts.

There is also bad news from the railway company for the Bank Holiday weekend.

They have warned people in Oxfordshire to expect their service to be ‘extremely busy’ between London and Birmingham due to the closure of London Euston station over the weekend.

Services will run from Marylebone Station instead, impacting on passengers travelling between Oxford and London.

The Chiltern Railways website states: "If at all possible, you are advised not to travel on Saturday and Sunday and travel on the days either side of the Bank Holiday weekend."

Trains will run through Oxford but some may be re-timed.

Full timetable changes are available to view on the Chiltern Railways website.
