The changing face of Woodstock

THE town’s new swimming pool opened in 1971 and after performing the official opening, Lord Blandford, now the Duke of Marlborough, was presented with the first season ticket.

He is seen in the first picture receiving the the ticket from the pool’s vice-chairman Oliver Brown.

Pupils at Marlborough School held their own Common Market poll in 1975. The result was in favour of staying in Europe, with 318 votes in favour and 228 against. Casting their votes in the second picture are Jill Howard, Jane Sulik and Kim Carter, all 16.

Woodstock Primary School boasted a fine brass band in 1967 and among the musicians was Andrew Kinch, performing in the third picture on the cornet.
